Become a Chess Coach today!

We are seeking highly motivated individuals who have an interest in teaching chess to primary school children. This will involve:

*Demonstrating excellent customer service with parents, teachers, and school administrators.

*Preparing lessons in advance.

*Organising your own transport and being punctual to scheduled classes.

*Managing behaviour of students.

*Recording attendance and submitting rolls into the database system.

*Collecting forms and delivering them to our office.

*Collecting equipment orders from the office and taking them to classes.

Selection criteria:

*Understanding the rules of chess and willingness to share your passion for the game.

*Motivation to teach and inspire children. (Please note that all successful candidates must complete a Working with Children Check https://www.canberraconnect.act.gov.au/app/answers/detail/a_id/1804/~/working-with-vulnerable-people-(wwvp)).

*Ability to effectively communicate and build trust with both children and adults.

*Excellent organisational and problem solving skills to adapt to changing circumstances.

 
The successful candidate will be punctual, responsible, and ethical when working autonomously in schools and be a positive role model for young kids.

We will support you with on-the-job training and provide you with resources such as lesson plans, worksheets, and awards to help you to succeed. This role is highly flexible and chess classes can be scheduled to suit your lifestyle. For example, leave can be granted for university exams with prior notice.

Work hours are usually before school 7:30-9am, during lunch time 12-2pm and after school 3-4:30pm for 1 hour classes. We recommend that you drive if possible, or otherwise take public transport, as you may be travelling to different areas of Sydney.
